1. Who we are

ContextSnap (the browser extension, the server it talks to, and this website) is operated by Pham To Linh, an individual based in Vietnam ("we", "us"). You can reach us at thetristanlinh@gmail.com.

2. Accepting these terms

By installing or using ContextSnap, or by buying a paid plan, you agree to these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy and our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

You must be at least 18 years old to use ContextSnap. This is required by the terms of the AI service we use. If you are using ContextSnap for an employer or university, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for that use.

3. The service

ContextSnap is a Chrome extension that sends the text you select, or the screen region you capture, together with your questions, to an AI model and shows you an explanation on the page you are reading. Explanations are generated by Google's Gemini models through our server. Paid plans may also use Google Search to add cited sources.

ContextSnap is not available in countries and regions where Google's Gemini API is not offered. Today that includes mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Afghanistan and Myanmar. Please do not try to use it from those places.

4. Plans and fair use

One explanation is one question plus up to two follow-up questions about it. Free daily limits reset at midnight UTC. Monthly allowances on paid plans reset at the start of each billing month (for the Founding plan, on the same day each month as your purchase) and unused explanations do not carry over.

To prevent abuse such as shared keys or automated use, paid plans also have a fair-use cap of 200 explanations a day. Normal reading never comes close to it. These limits exist so the service stays fast and affordable for everyone. We may change the limits of the Free plan at any time. We will not reduce the limits of a paid plan during a period you have already paid for. "Lifetime" for the Founding plan means for as long as we operate ContextSnap; it does not mean your lifetime.

5. Buying a paid plan

Paid plans are sold through Dodo Payments, which acts as our merchant of record and reseller. That means Dodo Payments is the seller on your receipt, processes your payment, and handles sales tax and VAT. Their buyer terms also apply to your purchase. We never see or store your card details.

• Prices are in US dollars. Tax is calculated at checkout based on your location.
• Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel any time; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
• If we ever change the price of a plan you are subscribed to, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
• Refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy, including a 14-day money-back guarantee on every paid plan.

6. Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use ContextSnap under these terms. A paid licence key may be activated on up to 3 devices that you personally use. On the Lab plan, each named member gets their own licence. Please do not share, publish or sell your licence key. We may deactivate a key that is shared or used in breach of these terms.

The extension's code, design, name and logo belong to us. These terms do not give you any right to them except to use the extension as intended.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use ContextSnap for anything illegal, or to create content that breaks Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy;
• try to get around the plan limits, for example by automating requests, creating many device identities, or calling our server from anything other than the official extension;
• resell, rent or share access to ContextSnap or our server, or use it to build a competing service;
• try to break, overload or reverse-engineer our server, or interfere with other users;
• use ContextSnap from a country or region where it is not available.

We may suspend or limit access that breaks these rules, and we will tell you why when we reasonably can.

8. AI-generated answers

• Check anything important against the original source or a qualified person.
• ContextSnap does not give medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and its answers must not be used as the basis for clinical, safety-critical or legal decisions.
• If you use ContextSnap for coursework, peer review or publication, follow the AI rules of your institution, journal or funder. You are responsible for how you use the answers.

9. Your content

You keep all rights to the text and images you send and to the answers you receive. You give us permission to process them only as needed to produce your answer, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not store them.

Only send content you have the right to share. Avoid sending other people's sensitive personal information, passwords, or confidential data you are not allowed to disclose.

10. Services we depend on

ContextSnap relies on Google (Gemini API and Google Search), Cloudflare (our server) and Google's Chrome Web Store (distribution). When you use ContextSnap, your requests are also processed under those providers' terms. We are not responsible for their outages or for changes they make, but we will do our best to keep ContextSnap working and to tell you about significant disruptions.

11. Changes to the service

We improve ContextSnap regularly and may change, add or remove features, or change the AI model we use. If a change significantly reduces what a paid plan includes, you can ask for a refund of the unused part of your current paid period.

If we decide to shut ContextSnap down, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email to paying customers and refund the unused part of any prepaid monthly, yearly or Lab period.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using ContextSnap at any time by uninstalling it and cancelling any subscription. We may end or suspend your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we are required to by law or by one of the providers we depend on. Sections 8, 9, 13, 14 and 15 continue to apply after your use ends.

13. Disclaimer

ContextSnap is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose, or that answers will be accurate. Some countries do not allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.

14. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost data, lost profits, missed deadlines or decisions you make based on an answer. Our total liability to you for any claim related to ContextSnap is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow. Before any formal dispute, please email us; most problems can be solved quickly.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top and, if you have a paid plan, email you at least 14 days before the change takes effect. If you do not agree with a change, you can cancel before it takes effect.
